Disclaimer
gstindia.com explains GST in general terms. It is not advice for your business, and it is not a government website.
General information, not advice
The tools and the explanations on this site are general information. They are not tax, legal or accounting advice, and they don’t take your own business into account.
Before you make a decision about your own business, such as whether to register, which rate applies to what you sell, or whether to cancel a registration, talk to a qualified tax professional.
Not a government website
gstindia.com is independent. It is not run by, connected with or approved by the Government of India, GSTN (the Goods and Services Tax Network, which runs the GST portal) or CBIC (the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs).
To file a return, pay tax or manage your registration, use the official GST portal at gst.gov.in.
Rules change
GST rates, due dates and rules change, sometimes at short notice. Every figure on this site names its official source and shows the date we last checked it. Before you rely on a figure, look at that date. Before you use a figure in a return or on an invoice, check it on the official source too.
The official sources
- GST portal (gst.gov.in): file returns, pay tax, manage your registration, and read official updates (advisories) GSTN (the Goods and Services Tax Network)
- CBIC’s tax information site (taxinformation.cbic.gov.in): the GST law, and official orders (notifications and circulars) CBIC (the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs)
The tools
Each tool’s answer depends on what you enter. Each tool shows the date we last checked its rules against the official sources (in its “Checked against” line), and its answers follow the rules as they were on that date. Check an answer before you use it in a return or on an invoice.
If something is wrong
We work to keep every page correct and up to date, but we can’t promise that it always is. If you spot a mistake, email contact@gstindia.com, and read how we fix mistakes.
